Description
The medieval tombstones (stećci) are found on over 200 locations in the vicinity of Sarajevo. A significant medieval necropolis was located at the right side of today's Skenderija Bridge until the end of 19th century. The largest portion of this necropolis was built into the foundations of buildings built during the Austro-Hungarian rule of Sarajevo. Only a small portion of the tombstones are preserved and they line the left bank of Miljacka River, across from KSC Skenderija.
